Fundraising Begins

With all worthy causes, it often takes more than hard work to make a difference. We are starting to raise funds to help us advance our cause. We need to raise funds to support advertising and marketing expenses and getting the word out about TaB, our cause, and to gain media attention.

We have launched our first GoFundMe to raise funds for marketing/advertising expenses and hope you’ll consider donating or sharing the GoFundMe with your social circle. Read more here.

Write a Letter (or Postcard) Wednesday

As we communicated in a prior post, our calendar of events was created to organize our #SaveTaB campaign. Today is our second “Write a Letter Wednesday.”

Today, we ask that you all go out of your way to write a letter to Coca-Cola. It can be brief, it can be long–but just write one (or more).

And another idea–if you don’t want to write a letter, how about sending them a postcard (or a few)?

One TaB fan found a bunch of cool vintage postcards at an antique store–and now all of them are addressed to Coca-Cola with a “Save TaB” message handwritten on the back. Do you have a fun idea that will capture their attention? Let us know in the comments.

All letters and postcards should be addressed to:

The Coca-Cola Company
Attn: (enter name of official here, such as James Quincey, CEO)
1 Coca Cola Plz NW
Atlanta, GA 30313

Only One Month Left with TaB – Keep up Your Efforts

As we enter the final month of (a very long) 2020, it’s important to remember if Coca-Cola follows through with its plan to eliminate TaB (which at this point seems to be true), we are in the final days of being able to purchase our beloved soda (where available).

But this is not the time to give up. It is quite the opposite! It’s time to double down on our efforts. If you haven’t been following along and participating in our daily social media campaign categories, please join us! And if you haven’t been writing letters and making phone calls with our “write letter wednesdays,” and “phone call fridays,” join in this week!

And we can always use additional voices. If you know any TaB allies on social media (they don’t have to drink TaB to want to help) who will join us, please share our cause (this is a good place to point them). When we post a new blog post–feel free to share it to get the word out! Each blog post is usually a call to action–so the more people who see it, the better!

In Summary/Closing: It’s December. It’s late in the year, but early in our fight. We are just getting started! If you’re participating in our daily social media topics–THANK YOU! If you aren’t, now is a great time to join us.

We’re in this until we can convince the company to change its mind, or until we have exhausted all options. We’re currently working on additional ideas to make our voices heard–beyond the virtual world of social media. More to come. Stay Strong, and spread the word.

And don’t forget–today’s TaB Tuesday!

.

Meme Monday

As we communicated in a prior post, our calendar of events was created to organize our #SaveTaB campaign. Today is our “Meme Monday.”

This is your opportunity to create and share memes that get people talking all over social media about TaB. Our goal is to expand the conversation beyond the existing TaB fan community and into our collective culture. Memes are a great way to gain attention from others.

If you’ve never created a meme before, check out meme generator sites such as this to get started. You can use their images, or upload your own.

Of course, when sharing memes, we always want to make sure you’re publicly discussing and tweeting directly on the TheCocaColaCo Facebook, and @mention @CocaColaCo on twitter. And always use the hashtag #SaveTaB.

Thanksgiving Thursday

As we communicated in a prior post, our calendar of events was created to organize our #SaveTaB campaign. Today is our very first “Thirsty Thursday,” but in honor of Thanksgiving, it’s “Thanksgiving Thursday.”

This is your opportunity to explain why you’ve been thankful for TaB. Or if you have a Coca-Cola bottler or store that’s been helpful in your search for TaB–let them know! Anything thanksgiving-themed is a go! Include a photo of your meal including TaB (or lacking it if that’s the case) to add interest. Food photos on Thanksgiving are almost expected! Or, if you want to proactively thank the Coca-Cola company for reversing their decision on TaB; hey why not, it’s worth a shot!?

Of course, we always want to make sure you’re publicly discussing and tweeting directly on the TheCocaColaCo Facebook, and @mention @CocaColaCo on twitter. And always use the hashtag #SaveTaB.

Wednesdays with a Purpose (or Two)

As we communicated in a prior post, our calendar of events was created to organize our #SaveTaB campaign. Today is our very first “Weepy Wednesdays” and “Write a Letter Wednesdays.” Two purposes on a single day!

There are two asks for campaign supporters.

1—Go out of your way to write a letter to Coca-Cola today. It can be brief, it can be long. But regardless–just write one and send it to:

The Coca-Cola Company
Attn: (enter name of official here, such as James Quincey, CEO)
1 Coca Cola Plz NW
Atlanta, GA 30313

2–“Weepy Wednesday” This is your opportunity to really explain how much you’re going to miss TaB, and express your disappointment. All of our other social media days are pretty lighthearted. This one focuses on the sadness surrounding their decision.

On Wednesdays, we’re asking you to publicly plead with Coca-Cola. Tell them just how sad you are about the whole thing. As always, to maximize the impact, make sure your posts are public and are directly on the TheCocaColaCo Facebook, and @mention @CocaColaCo on twitter. And always use the hashtag #SaveTaB.

First TaB Tuesday!

As we communicated in a prior post, our calendar of events was created to organize our #SaveTaB campaign. Today is our very first “TaB Tuesday.”

It helps us keep our tweets and Facebook posts interesting and engaging. Every Tuesday, we ask you to create tweets and posts that showcase TaB. Think of it like a TaB show and tell. Use photos of your TaB stockpile (if you’re so lucky), TaB memorabilia, TaB clothing/decorations, or just a fun picture that represents TaB Tuesday to you.

As always, to maximize the impact, make sure your posts are public and are directly on the TheCocaColaCo Facebook, and @mention @CocaColaCo on twitter. And always use the hashtag #SaveTaB.

If you don’t have twitter and/or need some help with tweeting–read more here.

Phone Call Friday is Here!

As we communicated in the last post, our calendar of events was created to organize our #SaveTaB campaign. Today is our very first “Phone Call Friday!”

And it’s an easy ask. Contact Coca-Cola by telephone today (maybe several times), and make your case for why TaB should not be discontinued. Make sure you ask that your request is formally documented and shared with management. And if possible, ask for a case or reference number.

Remember, kindness goes a long way. Keep your conversation friendly, and focus on why it’s a bad decision that should be reconsidered.

Our Social Media Strategy (+Committee Update)

Our Committee has been working hard to create a plan for us to make some noise and get the attention of the Coca-Cola Company. Now we’re ready for your help! There is power in numbers, and we need all of you to amplify our voices. We have begun communicating this simple social media strategy in the various Facebook groups, and ask you to share as well. This needs to be an ongoing activity we are all doing, while we plan out future events.

Social Media Strategy

Here are three simple actions we’d like all TaBbies and their allies to take during the rest of 2020 (and if necessary–longer) until Coca-Cola changes its mind. 1)Sign Up, 2)Tweet, and 3)Share.

  1. Sign up for Twitter/Facebook and start tweeting/posting. If you don’t know how to do this, we wrote a twitter step-by-step instruction guide here. It’s super easy, so please give it a go.
  2. Tweet/Post Every Day – Every day, multiple times per day, we need you to engage with content on Twitter/Facebook that is related to saving TaB on @CocaColaCo’s Twitter and Facebook feeds. The more engagement the better. If you feel like you’re repeating yourself, you’re just getting started–keep going 🙂
    • Write your own tweets/posts.
    • Seek out other tweets and posts that resonate with you and retweet/share them. (search @CocaColaCo and #SaveTab to find them).
    • Like other people’s tweets and posts.
    • When tweeting/posting, ensure you are mentioning @CocaColaCo and using #SaveTab.
      • We’re trying to gain attention and hope to find just the right mix of content to “go viral.” So please, get creative–share videos, photos, and the like. Use a meme generator if you want.
      • We have established a social media calendar with a Twitter/Facebook topic for every single day of the week. Download the calendar here.
  3. Share–this may be the most important item. Tell anyone and everyone! If you see someone on social media (or in real life) who loves TaB as much as you do–tell them what we are doing. Send them right here to savetabsoda.com for these instructions!

In summary: Sign up for Twitter, start tweeting, and tell everyone else to as well.

+Committee Update

Now that we have rolled out this social media strategy and calendar, we are beginning to work on creating additional events that will attract media attention. Physical events, and ways that will expand our reach. We need volunteers to help us. Particularly those who are in communities who have access to TaB. If you are interested in helping, please contact us.

Want to Join Our #SaveTaB Committee Zoom Meetings?

We’ve added a lot of new subscribers to the site in the past couple of weeks—which is awesome!

But that got us to thinking…are they subscribing because they just want occasional e-mail updates from us when we post something new?

Or… are they subscribing because they want to take a more active role in saving our beloved soda?

If it’s the latter, and you’re a subscriber who would like to join our #SaveTaB committee (we’ve had two meetings via Zoom so far), please join us. We’re looking forward to meeting you!
